Women's Health
As women, we need to take responsibility for our health and be our own advocate, working together with our doctor to identify the right tests to maximize our health. Heart disease is one of the most commonly overlooked issues by women. If detected early, heart disease can be prevented in the majority of women. Statistics tell us that one in four U.S. women will die of heart disease. Women also account for an estimated 6 in 10 stroke deaths.

Women face additional risk factors for heart disease, including those taking:
• Birth control pills—especially women over the age of 35 with high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, or who smoke.
• Hormone replacement therapy. Studies have shown estrogen plus progestin can increase the chance of developing heart disease, stroke, blood clots, and breast cancer.

Versatile Cardiovascular Screening Options
The variations in your health and risk factors are extensive. Your options for cardiac screening should be flexible and able to adapt to your individual needs.
• Primary Panel
Provides a foundation for assessing your risk for cardiovascular disease, including the primary and advanced lipid marker information plus assessment for metabolic syndrome.
• Follow-up Panel
Supplies the primary lipid and advanced marker information for patients with previous assessment or for follow-up monitoring of moderate to high risk patients.

Hormone Replacement Therapy for some women can increase their chances of having a heart attach or stroke.

Birth Control Pills can pose heart disease risks for some women, especially women older than 35, women with high blood pressure, diabetes, or high cholestrol and women who smoke.
Cervical Cancer Risk
Why detect cervical cancer risk, when you can detect the early development of cervial cancer itself? HPV (Human Papillomavirus) is one of the most common sexuality transmitted diseases and is the chief cause of cervical cancer, which affects approximately 500,000 women worldwide annually. Cervical cancer screening programs have dramatically reduced the number of deaths and the prevalence of cervical cancer.
Why is HPV OncoTest revolutionary?
HPV OncoTest is a method for screening cervical carcinoma by identifying the oncogenic activity of Human papillomavirus (HPV) in infected cells. Older DNA tests can detect the presence of the Human Papillomavirus but not the presence of cervical disease. However, within two years 80% of HPV infections clear up naturally and only a small percentage ever move onward to cancer. Because HPV OncoTest is able to directly measure the oncogenic activity of the Human Papillomavirus within cervical cells it can identify those HPV infections serious enough to require treatment, and save women the anxiety and expense of a false positive test.
How does HPV OncoTest work?
HPV OncoTest is a flow cytometry based in situ hybridization test for the detection of HPV E6 and E7 mRNA in intact ectocervical cells. HPV OncoTest takes advantage of the fact that oncogenic genotypes of HPV overexpress E6 and E7 mRNA following integration of HPV into genomatic DNA. The presence of high levels of HPV E6, E7 mRNA indicates that these cells are undergoing the molecular changes of cellular transformation that are the early stages of cervical cancer development.
Should I get tested for vaginal infections with the Affim VPIII test?
Vaginitis is any disorder that causes inflammation or infection of the vagina that can result in abnormal discharge, odor, pain, itching and burning. Vaginitis is common in women of reproductive age. If you have symptoms of vaginitis, a correct diagnosis is needed before the condition can be treated.

95% of all vaginal infections are detected by Affirm VPIII
Affirm VPIII is the first diagnostic test that can differentiate the major causes of vaginitis from a single web.

Affirm VPIII has greater accuracy than traditional methods, which means more precise diagnosis. It is up to 30% more sensitive than established methods, which reduces missed infections.

For the proper diagnosis and treatment of vaginitis ask your doctor if Affirm VPIII is right for you. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention note that in order for proper diagnosis and treatment of vaginitis, labratory testing is needed.
